Zotac reveals new ITX HTPC motherboard
At the CES conference 2012 Zotac have revealed yet another mini ITX motherboard aimed squarely at HTPC machines, the ZOTAC D2700-ITX WiFi Supreme . It has a buit in Intel Atom D2700 which is a dual core processor clocked at a fairly impressive 2.13Ghz while only drawing 10W of power. This little CPU should be ample, if not overkill for any Media playing machine and probably wouldnl’t play too bad with encoding (although only time will tell).
Builtin you will also find a GeForce GT520 with 512 DDR3 memory, this graphics unit supports 3D Blu Ray playback and HDMI 1.4a technology that can send 8 channel audio over a HDMI cable.
Because of the CPU the board can cope with up to 4GB of memory using 2 DDR3 slots but unfortunatly only single channel. Again I can see no problems with that for 75% of home theatre machines out there.
The board has 2 USB 3 slots which seems to be more common these days but still nice to see on a board this small.
As you can probably guess buy the name it also includes a built in Wireless 802.11n WIFI adapter, perfect for saving a USB port.
So all in all this could be a perfect little board for a Small HTPC, release dates and pricing has not announced yet and this could really be the deciding factor for many of you but expect it to be upwards of £100. See www.zotacusa.com for more information.
